About a month ago, I was laying down on my bed and a thought came to my mind. The thought was centered on Anatomy/Physiology and Pathology. These are the kinds of things that run through my mind, but let me not digress much. For my medical people, you know that in order to be a good pathologist, you must be an even better physiologist. Let me break down the difference here so that everyone can follow.
Pathology is defined as the study of the causes and effects of diseases. The study of pathology comes from the perspective of already diseased organs. Physiology on the other hand is defined as the study of the normal functions of living organisms.
Now, if we are to juxtapose these two, we will see that in order for a person to understand how or why a particular organ is diseased, one must first know what its natural non-diseased state looks like. From there, one will be able to deduce what is is wrong, why and how to reverse the disease if possible. This then birthed another question in my mind, How can you notice a defect if you don’t know what the anatomically correct orientation of a thing?
Something clicked within me as I was able to relate this with our christian walk of faith. In order to detect the lies of the enemy and avoid them, we must first know the Truth. What does God say concerning a matter, because the WORD of God is the Truth, it is the standard by which every other word is compared. It is when we know this Truth that we can differentiate it from the lies of the enemy and refute it with that same WORD.
The lies of the enemy is meant to ensnare us and distort our image of what God originally called us to be. It is through the lies of the enemy that our minds become diseased and unless we know what the intended state of our minds and body are, we won’t know what the difference is and ultimately won’t be able to tell that whatever the enemy is saying is a lie.
This is how powerful the Truth is.
The bible says in John 8:31-32 “You shall know the Truth and the Truth shall set you free…”
It is in the knowledge and the abiding in the Truth of God’s Word that will allow us not to fall into the trap and entanglements of the lies of the enemy.
I was listening to a preacher one day and he used an analogy that left an indelible mark on me, he said, in context of differentiating truth from lies. Using the example of currency, he stated that in order to know what a counterfeit currency looks like, one would have “studied” and become very accustomed to the original currency and all its intricacies so that when a counterfeit is presented, you will be able to spot it right away. In order words, we don’t focus on the lies of the enemy, when we know the WORD of TRUTH. We simply stand in the authority that has been given to us as SONS and refute everything that does not align with that TRUTH.
We live in times when our deposit, our bank, or storage of the WORD of God must be current in order to ward off the many lies that are being spoken, especially the ones that are being spoken in the guise of religion.
The WORD is the only thing capable of standing the test of time and the test of lies. Without the WORD of God dwelling richly in out hearts, it’s a matter of time before we become victims of the lies. These lies have so intertwined themselves with our everyday dialogue, carrying the semblance of truth, but denying it’s power. 2nd Timothy talks about perilous times and perilous men and describes in Chapter 5 as “ having a form of godliness, but denying its power. And from such people turn away”
There are many “preachers” who come with eloquence of speech and unless your foundation os rooted in the WORD, you could easily get carried away. I use the word “preacher” very loosely here, because I don’t want you to focus on a person, but rather to mean the abundance of information that is speaking to us and vying for our attention.
So I employ you, spend time in the light of HIS WORD and let HIS WORD reveal HIS intention so that when lies confront you, you can detect it and flee from it.
In the Truth of God’s WORD, stand Audaciously!
